Mar
30, 2013 - The Whirlpool GalaxyThis image is a favourite of mine,
as this was the object that made me want to image in the first place. Due to
the moon I only managed to gather 1h55m of 5 minute exposures on the target
using the Meade 14" and the QSI. Visible in this image are sweeping dust
lanes, star formation zones, and even a hit of pink in the hydrogen alpha
pockets. I would have loved to go longer, but I hope to revisit this target
again for a deeper study this spring.

| Mar 16 2013 - Comet Panstarrs
(C2011/L4) from the VCO Observatory Hill
-
Success! Malcolm, Charles, Bruno, and I met on the hill around 7:15pm. Then
at 7:49pm, Charles let out a yell from inside; Malcolm, Bruno and I rushed
in and there it was: Pan-STARRS!! At first look and given the relatively
bright sky, the comet was very stellar-like. As the sky darkened, the coma
appeared, and eventually the tail.

Mar 10-12, 2013 - Comet Panstarrs (C2011/L4) from Rodeo, NM, USA
-
The Comet
can be seen setting into the mountains near Rodeo NM. It was
pretty exciting to see.
